Abstract
This article highlights the inadequate disposal of cooking oil as one of the practices that cause water contamination, including in urban centers, aggravating water scarcity and making it difficult to access the population. It aims to promote reflections on the limits of environmental education, based on a study carried out with the students of the Pedagogy Course. Questionnaires were applied to investigate disposal sites and, after analyzing this information, a training was elaborated and developed, including a soap production workshop. However, results showed the non-adherence of the participants to the final product. It is concluded that such workshops, although they propose to practice from experience, must go beyond content exposition, followed by sensitizing experiences. The seriousness of today's socio-environmental problems, especially in the urban context, requires contextualized and dialogical social learning spaces that stimulate the search for shared solutions, moving towards sustainability.
