Design Of A Compact Octagonal Uwb Mimo Antenna Employing Polarization Diversity Technique

In this paper, a compact octagonal shaped UWB (Ultra Wideband) antenna is proposed for MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) systems, employing polarization diversity. The proposed antenna operates in the frequency range 3.1 GHz to 12.2 GHz, covering the entire UWB frequency range (3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz). The developed 2 x 2 MIMO antenna system gives reduced mutual coupling, i.e., < -15 dB in the entire operating frequency range and < -20 dB in between 3.1 GHz to 6.5 GHz. The gain, radiation pattern and correlation coefficient of the proposed antenna are also presented.
