LED retrofits and their role in transient to the more energy efficient home lighting

This paper aims to show that retrofit lamps are not always suitable to replace old-fashioned lamp types by simple comparison of their luminous flux. Using a common type of diffuser combined with a clear bulb, retroft compact fluorescent lamp and a LED retrofit the luminous intensity distribution of these combinations have been measured. The results were expected to show significant differences in the resulting lighting parameters. Proof of the expectations and consequences for the application of retrofits are presented in the paper.
