Changing Physical-Environment And Changing Physical-Geography

Five aspects of changing physical environment are identified as autogenic change, the impact of human activity, global change, management of physical environment, and perception of physical environment. These five aspects are compared with recent developments in physical geography, and an audit of physical geography is attempted by comparing the themes of changing physical environment and changing physical geography. This indicates that the activity in branches of physical geography is still uneven, that further energetic approaches are required, and that physical geography should be more involved in environmental design. Contemporary physical geography is more in tune with recent changes in environment than it was two decades ago but the challenges are greater and can be met only by responses to the five types of change and to the links between them.
