Chinese Visible Human Produced

The US Visible Human Project data set acquired in 1995 consists of a visible male and a female, which is the worlds first image resource for human simulation. With the production of Chinese Visible Human (CVH) male in October 2002 and Visible female in February 2003 at Third Military Medical University, China becomes the second country in the world which owns Visible Human couple. Hence another image resource for human simulation completed. Up to Apt: 6, 2003, the third CVH data set was acquired. The data set consists of images of 18398 serial sections at 0.1 mm intervals. The images are 11,000,000-pixel resolution. Compared with the data set of US VHP the following features of our data set represent innovations:Acquired from serial sections of the whole body, our data set presents no sectional data loss.Our digital images achieve a higher resolution.Vascular perfusion was performed to allow easier blood vessel identification.Measures were taken to prevent small structures from falling off from milling surface. Thus, integrity of images was ensured.The selected subjects were of moderate age, size and height so as to be more representative.
