A cost comparison of different energy saving measures in a household

Many households do not have the financial capacity to afford to implement energy savings measures across the board. This paper therefore compared four different energy savings measures and compared their payback periods in order to ascertain the most effective measures for a consumer's budget. The paper also aims to appeal to the average homeowner by focusing only on energy savings solutions that are simple and easy to implement and/or pre-packaged in some way. This paper thus considers four different energy savings measures, namely the installation of geyser insulation, the installation of ceiling insulation, the installation of a solar geyser and the installation of photovoltaics. In order to ensure consistency across all comparisons, a medium-income household was used for all the comparisons.
