Abstract
Austria is situated in the eastern part of the Alps. About 65% of Austria's landscape consists of alpine regions and more than 50% of the Austrian population live in these regions. During hunting in alpine regions special food safety risks may arise. This chapter mainly deals with these risk factors and with the rules to be adhered to, to secure the production of high quality wild game meat under adverse conditions.
