In order to analyze the effect of the layout of ventilating hole on the wind speed, Euler model and k - epsilon turbulent model were combined to simulate the wind speed in ventilating hole of working gate in high head large discharge hydropower station spillway tunnel. The results show that the cross-section of ventilating hole is undersize resulting in oversize wind speed in the ventilating hole; because the inlet parallels to the axis of ventilating hole, wind speed distribution is non-uniform near the inlet of ventilating hole and the wind speed on the right side is bigger than that on the left side of the overall ventilating hole; wind speed distributions on the outlet cross-sections of two arc segment are more uniform than those on the inlet cross-sections; wind speed distributions on the inlet and outlet cross-sections of the middle and exported straight segments change little. The conclusions obtained can improve the design of ventilating hole.
