Optimal Location of Renewable Energy Generator in Deregulated Power Sector

Integration of renewable energy sources (RESs) to power grid has achieved great importance in electrical power system. Through momentous enrichment in technology, the generating cost of electrical power as of RESs has been declining in the past few years. In the present paper, primal–dual interior point method (PDIPM) has been applied for maximizing social benefit and minimizing power loss. A cost-based multi-attribute function has been proposed for optimal location of renewable energy generators by considering social benefit, power loss, and pollutant emission. The availability of wind power sources has also been considered in this study for optimal placement of renewable generators. Additionally, the proposed approach based on availability of renewable energy sources and cost-based multi-attribute function is validated on IEEE-6. It has been found that the proposed methodology is effective in locating the RES with improved social benefit, power loss, and emission profile.
