Abstract
The levels with v less than or equal to 14, 27 less than or equal to J less than or equal to 57 in the (6d)(1) Delta(g) and (7d)(1) Delta(g) Rydberg states of Na-2 have been observed using optical-optical double resonance (OODR) fluorescence excitation spectroscopy. The intermediate levels in the (BIIu)-I-1 state are identified by numerical calculations with the molecular constants for (BIIu)-I-1 <-- X(1) Sigma(g)(+) transitions and confirmed by the complementary A(1) Sigma(u)(+) <-- X(1) Sigma(g)(+) polarization spectra. Absolute vibrational numberings of the (6d)(1) Delta(g) and (7d)(1) Delta(g) states are determined by comparing the observed OODR excitation intensities of transitions (1) Delta(g) <-- (BIIu)-I-1 with that of the simulated Franck-Condon factors. The Dunham coefficients and the Rydberg-Klein-Rees (RKR) potential energy curves of the (6d)(1) Delta(g) and (7d)(1) Delta(g) states are reported. (C) 1995 Academic Press, Inc.
