Endometrial Yolk Sac Tumors: A Case Report

A yolk sac tumor (YST) is a malignant tumor originating from germ cells. YST mainly arises from the gonads, rarely occurring in extragonadal sites. Endometrial yolk sac tumors are rare. In this study, a case involving a 36-year-old female with a history of irregular vaginal bleeding and elevated alfa-fetoprotein levels is presented. Multi-disciplinary clinical, laboratory, and pathological investigations contributed to the diagnosis of an unusual case of an endometrial yolk sac tumor. The patient was treated with surgery, followed by postoperative chemotherapy. Serum levels of alfa-fetoprotein were restored to normal and the patient remained free of disease for 15 months.
