In recent years, a series of interactive processes between atmosphere, oceans, land and humans is becoming more complex with the weather and climate extreme events. Thus, it is considerably difficult to identify the causes and regimes of erosion and accretion along the coastal provinces in Vietnam generally and Quang Nam particularly. The goal of this paper is to identify and quantity the erosion-accretion causes and regimes along the Quang Nam coast, taking the Cua Dai Beach as a pilot area. In this paper, an analysis of satellite images is implemented to interpret the evolution of estuary morphology on the scales of spatio-temporal along the Quang Nam Coast, Vietnam. More importantly, hydrodynamic models of Delft3D and MIKE 11 are applied to identify the causes and regimes of erosion-accretion for this area. It is significantly remarkable to provide well-fitted results of models against the measured data. Valuable findings of this study are a confirmation of erosion-accretion processes just occurred during the wintertime. The causes come from the strong effects of northeast waves with a wave height of approximately 5 m and frequency of more than 70%. In addition, erosion processes in the northern riverbank significantly cause the accretion of Cua Dai Beach estuary.
