Use Of Xml For Enabling Graphic And Kinematic Cad Data Exchange

This paper focuses on the use of XML for the exchangeability of both the graphic and kinematic CAD data between various CAD systems in the web. In concurrent design process, different parts of the same product are designed in different CAD systems. However, when all the parts have to be integrated in one particular CAD system during cooperative design process, data tend to get lost and so the product gets distorted and disoriented. XML is found to bridge this gap. Therefore, in this paper, separate software programs are developed to store and retrieve the graphic and kinematic CAD data in XML format to facilitate the exchangeability of CAD data on the web. An extrusion machine model designed in PLCStudio is thus successfully exported to [GRIP by our system wherein the graphic and kinematic properties of the model have remained intact.
