Sealing performance analysis of deep-sea sediment sampler

A portable sediment pressure sampler mounted on ROV was designed for 11,000m sediment sampling with a pressure retention of 110 MPa. Moreover, seal is the key to maintain sampler pressure. This paper compares the sealing performance of the seals used in the deep-sea sediment pressure-holding sampler, and used the finite element analysis method to simulate the sealing performance of four different sealing ring types. The pre-tightening performance of four types of sealing rings under different radial compression ratios was discussed. The sealing contact stress, friction force and Von-Mises stress of four types of sealing rings under 11,000m superhigh pressure were analyzed.
