Development Of Reduced Order Model For The Hnceri Gasifier

An integrated CFD-ROM (reduced order model) hybrid approach has been developed to study the two-stage dry-feed oxygen-blown entrained flow gasifier of HNCERI. The CFD simulation provides necessary flow information to construct the ROM. Detailed chemical kinetics for coal gasification are added to the ROM besides mass and heat conservation equations. This hybrid approach is validated against industrial operation data, such as the syngas composition, the carbon conversion, the effective syngas production rate, and the cold gas efficiency. The temperature profile of the gasifier from ROM is in general agreement with industrial data. The CO/H-2 composition distribution in final product syngas is found to be solely determined by the water-gas shift reaction where the reaction reaches equilibrium at the downstream of the stage 2 through reaction rate profile analysis.
