Abstract
A direct sampling receiver consisting of a low noise amplifier (LNA) and a sixth-order RF band-pass sigma-delta (BP ΣΔ) ADC operating at 750 MHz is presented. The band-pass loop filter is based on a G m -LC structure with active inductors to achieve a coilless receive chain. Using a sampling frequency of 1 GHz which is well below the input Nyquist frequency allows a large reduction of power consumption in the digital part. The IC achieves 36 dB and 44 dB of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and dynamic range (DR) on a 20 MHz bandwidth, respectively, with a current consumption of 33.1 mA from a 1.1 V supply. The receiver is fabricated in a 28 nm CMOS technology and requires a total area of 0.3 mm 2 .
