Abstract
A laboratory-scaled PCDD/Fs generating system, supplying stable gaseous PCDD/Fs with concentration of 2.25 ng I-TEQ/Nm3, was investigated in this study. The adsorption performance of graphite (GR) and graphene (GN) is similar, implying the potential similar adsorption mechanism of those two adsorbents. The adsorption efficiency (AE) of PCDD/Fs for both adsorbents increase with the extension of time. With three hours of adsorption, the total amounts of 17 toxic PCDD/Fs congeners on GR and GN are up to 3806pg I-TEQ/g and 17350 pg I-TEQ/g, respectively. It could be speculated that the pi-pi interactions is responsible for the strong adsorption of PCDD/Fs on graphene sheets. The AE value of 2, 3, 7, 8-TCDD was the lowest one among 17 toxic congeners, which could be relative with vapor pressure, polarity and molecular size. These results would be useful for removing other persistent organic pollutions to increase retention time at low concentration.
