摘要
Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is characterized by the involuntary leakage of urine on effort. SUI impacts the quality of life of many women, most of which do not know that they can seed medical care for this condition, or are ashamed of them. It is difficult to estimate the incidence of SUI, as there are several definitions, but it has been estimated to appear in 4-35% of adult women. There are over 200 surgical procedures for the treatment of SUI, and they are continuously evolving with the use of new materials. We performed a review of the literature to determine which from the retropubic and the trans-obturator sling approach, two of the most popular choices, in the treatment for SUI.We found that there are many studies regarding the safety and effectiveness of the different procedures for the treatment of SUI, with conflicting results as to which is the best option in terms of efficiency and complication rate. However, both the retropubic method and the trans-obturator sling method are efficient options, with good postoperative results and low complication rates.
