摘要
PurposeEstablishing the risk factors involved in the transmission of MDR strains from mothers to new-borns.MethodsThe study was conducted between January 2016 and December 2016, in the obstetrics-gynaecology and neonatology departments of "Pius Brinzeu" Emergency Hospital in Timisoara. For all bacterial strains, the identification and testing of antibiotics susceptibility was achieved with the Vitek 2 Compact system (BioMerieux, France). MDR strains included those bacteria that showed resistance to over 3 classes of antibiotics. The statistical tests were calculated with 2 extremes and the value of the statistical significance (p) was taken into account at values <= 0.05. Bivariate analysis involved calculating p and determining the power of association between risk factor and MDR strain infection.FindingsOf the 439 samples harvested, 446 MDR strains were isolated. Natural birth, broken membranes >24 hours and prematurity could be risk factors in transmitting MDR bacteria from the mother to the new born, while breastfeeding could provide protection against colonization with these strains.
