This paper presents the use of the TRIZ method in the casting process as a problem-solving methodology which relies on a systematic and logical approach based on the study of many patents. The wear of casting tools affects the effectiveness of the casting process and, for this reason, the tool wear should be reduced. The paper also presents the possibility of tools protection by applying the methods based on the Altshuller's matrix.
