Abstract
This study examines the need to develop/enhance digital competence in initial and continuing training programs, motivated by the challenge of training professionals in the area of public security and in order to provide critical and responsible use of TDIC, utilizing their potential for personal and professional development. In this context, this study aims to verify a possible convergence between the graduate programme in Information and Communication Technologies applied to Public Security and Human Rights and the guidelines for the development/improvement of digital competences understood within the scope of the European Framework of Reference - DigComp 2.1. Stemming from bibliographical and documental research, the quantitative analysis showed that all five areas of competence that are part of the European Reference Framework were contemplated during the development of the Specialization in ICT course. Also, it was possible to perceive the intersection between the knowledge proposed in the syllabus and the knowledge identified in 17 of the 21 competencies foreseen on the table. Therefore, from the convergence verified, it is clear the alignment of the training assumption of the institution involved and the orientations contained in DigComp 2.1, as well as the relevance of the training in TDIC to ensure the preparation for the adaptability and flexibility necessary to the context of rapid transformations in the contemporaneity.
