NEO-WORLD: Enhancing Young People’s Experience of Visiting Science Museum Through Gamification and Digital Technology

In response to the current situation that the development of Chinese science museums has fallen behind the increasing sightseeing demand of the public in recent years, this study uses interviews, questionnaires and other qualitative and quantitative analysis methods to conduct user insights, and proposes an application called ‘neo-world’, to help young people aged 18–30 improve the experience of visiting the Science Museum. ‘Neo-World’ is a gamification app for science museums based on AR technology, with ‘Socialization’, ‘Fun’ and ‘Big Data’ as product highlights. Through the redesign of the exhibition process, the online and offline experience of the exhibition is combined. This research is based on the double diamond model, and this paper introduces the whole design process from user research to usability testing in detail.
