Effectiveness of the Epley maneuver versus Cawthorne-Cooksey vestibular exercises in the treatment of posterior semicircular canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV): A randomized controlled trial

•Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo is the most common cause of peripheral vertigo.•Quality of life and balance is usually decreased in patients with BPPV.•Cawthorne-Cooksey vestibular exercises do not have any additional effects in improving symptoms.•The Epley maneuver can be considered as the first treatment option.
