Comparing the cycling behaviours of Australian, Chinese and Colombian cyclists using a behavioural questionnaire paradigm

•1094 cyclists from Australia, China and Colombia completed the CBQ survey.•Cyclists reported more frequent positive behaviours than risky behaviours.•Australian cyclists reported more positive behaviours and fewer violations.•Males and younger cyclists had more risky behaviours and more crashes.•Cyclists who rode more often reported more frequent risky riding.
