Printing Characters Recognition of Chip Resistors Based on the Combination of Image Segmentation and Artificial Neural Network.

SMT (surface mounted technology) is the most popular technology and process in the electronic assembly industry. Chip resistors are widely used in this technology. Printing characters recognition of chip resistors can inspect the specification of the resistors and check whether the chip resistors are mounted on the correct location. The traditional image segmentation methods are used to extract the printing characters from the images of chip resistors. And then the extracted characters are input an artificial neural network model and recognized. The combination of image segmentation and neural network has high accuracy and efficiency.
