In this study, we synthesized a [2]rotaxane that was both mechanically planar chiral and axially chiral, comprising a symmetrical biscrown ether featuring a biphenyl moiety (as the macrocyclic component) and a symmetrical bis-ammonium salt (as the dumbbell-shaped component).
