Abstract
The ergonomic risks of the activity of workers, known as hammers, in the rock drill that uses the pneumatic tool with drilling bits in granite mining is a matter of concern. The activity of the hammers is a work that demands great physical effort with transport and handling the heavy rigs with drilling bits varying from 0.40 m to 6.40 m long, weighing up to 24.250 kg. It intends to identify the main postures adopted by the hammers during his work of eight hours daily shift. Using WinOWAS identified the severity of acquired posture in the execution of labor activity. The heavy tools handling, inappropriate postures, the drilling activities, and cutting of granite blocks performed standing, are activities that can contribute to injury development of muscle-skeletal lesions in those workers . Postural correction is necessary and indicates the urgency of new studies and new technologies of pneumatic drilling rigs.
