This analysis reports on the largest series of patients treated with IORT for which a comparison group of observation is available. The rates of LRR in this series mirror those of modern randomized trials. IORT yielded a reduction in LRR that was intermediate between EBRT and observation. IORT does not appear to be iso-effective with EBRT in this population.
