Electricity Tariff Design via Lens of Energy Justice

•Operationalizing distributional equity in the tariff design approaches using the energy justice framework.•Distributional equity is modeled using economic welfare, environmental and public health impacts of tariff, and mean household income of consumers.•Flat system-wide tariff and time-of-use tariffs compromise environment and public health to reduce energy burden in the system.•Equitable tariffs cannot be designed without introducing temporal- and spatial granularity in tariff structures.
