Abstract

•This is the first study to compare somatic mutation profiling in tumor tissues, bile and plasma samples in BTC patients.•Our findings demonstrated that bile cfDNA outperformed plasma cfDNA in detecting somatic mutations.•Bile cfDNA might be a feasible liquid biopsy medium for BTC diagnosis.
