Abstract
Service-dominant (S-D) logic has changed the concept of users from consumers to value co-creators in an ecosystem. Barriers must be eliminated to facilitate resource integration for users. In this paper, we interviewed Tesla electric vehicle (EV) owners to investigate the factors influencing Tesla car adoption. We developed a preliminary conceptual model that contextualised EV ecosystems from an enhanced Antecedents-Privacy Concern-Outcomes model and an S-D logic perspective. We found that Tesla EV owners in Australia face uncertainty as they adapt to the data-sharing applications running their cars and take steps to co-create value. Many factors influence Tesla EV owners to conduct risk-benefit analysis. Private and public resources that influence EV adoption include uncertainty about services, privacy concerns and distrust. This research-in-progress aims to inform Tesla and other EV manufacturers about information system designs that support EV owners to co-create value.
