OBITUARY Paul David Berk, editor extraordinaire and bilirubinologist

Paul D. Berk passed away on July 11, 2021 after a prolonged illness. The Hepatology Community mourns his loss. He was 83.Paul was born on April 3 , 1938 in Brooklyn, N.Y. He showed an early interest in editing, serving as Editor-in- Chief of The Spectator. the Stuyvesant High School newspaper and a similar position at Swarthmore College where he graduated in 1959 Phi Beta Kappa with high honors in chemistry. After graduation he was a Fulbright Scholar for a year in the Department of Applied Mathematics, at the University of St. Andrews, Scotland pursuing additional skills in mathematics which were to serve him well later in his research career.
