The invention relates to marine esterase as well as a coding gene E22 and application thereof. The nucleotide sequence of the marine esterase gene E22 is represented by SEQ ID NO.1. The amino acid sequence of marine esterase E22 coded by the marine esterase gene E22 is represented by SEQ ID NO.2. The marine esterase E22 is capable of efficiently and selectively degrading chiral ester and has industrial application potentiality in the synthesis of important chiral compounds.
