Bifactor approximation for location routing with vehicle and facility capacities

•A bifactor approximation for capacitated location routing is presented.•Theoretical analysis provides worst-case guarantees for capacity blow- up and costs.•Extensive computational experiments are carried out in order to test the algorithm.•In practice, performance is significantly better than the worst-case guarantees.
