Exploring miniaturized sample preparation approaches combined with LC-QToF-MS for the analysis of sulfonamide antibiotic residues in meat- and/or egg-based baby foods

•Miniaturized procedures of QuEChERS, SALLE and low-temperature cleanup were compared.•Only one milliliter of acetonitrile per sample is required for the extraction step.•Efficient removal of matrix co-extractives was provided by miniaturized QuEChERS.•Confirmatory analysis based on accurate mass measurement of precursor and fragment ions.•Performance characteristics were established for baby foods of different composition.
