Simultaneous transduction of dendritic cells with A20 and BTLA genes stimulates the development of stable and efficient tolerogenic dendritic cells and induces regulatory T cells

•Transduction of DCs resulted in significantly decreased surface expression of CD40 and CD86 markers.•Transduction of DCs caused upregulation of A20, BTLA, and CCR7mRNA expression.•Levels of IL-10 and TGF-β were significantly increased in the supernatant of LPS-treated A20 + BTLA-transduced DCs.•DCs transduced with A20 + BTLA plasmid had higher migratory ability to mice lymph nodes.•DCs transduced with A20 + BTLA plasmid caused development of higher numbers of Treg cells in mice.
