Abstract
•Atrial septal defect (ASD) is one of the most common congenital heart diseases.•Atrial arrhythmias, are well-known complications of ASD and associated with morbidity, and mortality.•Increased pulmonary artery pressure, shunt size, advanced age and RA dilatation are associated with late atrial arrhythmias.•Crochetage sign is a possible marker of long-standing hemodynamic overload.•Crochetage sign may be used to predict the risk of late atrial arrhythmia occurrence after percutaneous ASD closure.
