Abstract

•Boldenone (BL) markedly increased the levels of IL-1β and IL-6 but reduced IL-10.•BL-injected rats showed altered platelet count and leukogram.•BL notably disturbed thyroid profile and thyroid architecture.•BL reduced the immuno-expression of CD4+ but increased CD8+ in the spleen and thymus.•Vitamin C corrected most of the BL-induced immune and thyroid function deviations.
