Abstract
Composition and color tailoring is an effective strategy for improving the efficiency of photocatalysts. In this study, black F-TiIII-codoping TiO2 (BFTiO2) was successfully prepared and anchored on the surface of sepiolite (Sep) by simple hydrothermal treatment and hydrogenation reduction. The obtained Sep-BFTiO2 nanocomposites showed the dark color, desired crystallinity, and good dispersion, with the great improvement of visible light absorption, photoinduced carriers separation, and bandgap narrowing. The photocatalytic properties of the composites were investigated using rhodamine B (RhB) and tetracycline (TC) as the target pollutants. The results indicate that under visible light irradiation, Sep-BFTiO2 composites showed excellent photodegradation removal toward RhB (91%) and TC (94%), much higher than pure TiO2 toward RhB (22%) and TC (34%), respectively. This study provides a great potential way for the evolution of TiO2 photocatalyst and application of sepiolite in an available and convenient manner.
