摘要
•This constitutes the first stable isotopic research on a 10th century CE Hungarian population.•Despite status differences, childhood animal protein consumption was fairly uniform between the sexes.•Adult males, regardless of social status, had preferential access to animal protein.•The results show that C3 plants dominated diet and that varying percentages of C4 plants, most likely broomcorn millet, were also consumed.
