Electrically stimulated auras as a potential biomarker of the epileptogenic zone

•Seizure auras are often elicited during cortical stimulation mapping.•Aura sites may be associated with known biomarkers of the epileptogenic zone.•Aura sites were not associated with seizure onset zone, early spread zone, or HFOs.•Evoked auras may reflect electrical spread rather than true epileptogenicity.•A larger study is needed to assess the value of auras as epileptic biomarkers.
