•Obtaining Novibacillus thermophilus DAE using NCBI database mining approach.•Exhibiting activity without metal ion whereas Co2+ is the best activator for activity.•Possessing superior optimum reaction temperature and acids tolerance.•The bioconversion for preparation of d-allulose is realized and further increased by adding borate.
