Bronze votive pins from the sanctuary of Athena Alea at Tegea, Arcadia, Greece, ca. 9th-7th BCE: A microscopic and compositional study using portable micro X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (micro-XRF)

•Chemical analysis of a copper-based alloy assemblage of votive pins from Greece.•The assemblage consists of bronze artefacts with an average tin content of 9%.•Geometric & Orientalising votive objects from the Arcadian sanctuary of Athena Alea at Tegea.•Discussion on the metallurgy of an Early Iron Age sanctuary in the Peloponnese.•Archaeometallurgical analysis using portable micro-XRF & optical microscopy.
