Abstract
In a resonant fiber optical gyroscope (RFOG) system, the imperfection of light intensity is primarily categorized into two parts: intensity fluctuation and inconsistent power of two paths. Firstly, the error of the intensity fluctuation effect on the RFOG scale factor is presented and simulated. Secondly, the RFOG bias drift caused by the Kerr effect is simulated when the intensity fluctuates. Next, an RFOG system with the servo of intensity stable is proposed. Experimental results confirm that the intensity fluctuation of the two paths is effectively suppressed, and the Kerr effect error can be effectively eliminated. Finally, the light intensity stability improves more than 30 dB, the RFOG bias stability decreases at least 6 dB, and the scale factor nonlinearly is suppressed by 20 dB.
