•An efficient framework is developed for robust topology optimization of multi-material structures.•Load uncertainty modeling is separated from the optimization procedure through Monte Carlo sampling.•The proposed method is efficient, easy-to-implement and compatible with conventional optimization models.•The effects of load uncertainty on optimized designs are systematically discussed.
