摘要
The 15-hydroxyprostaglandin dehydrogenase (15-PGDH) enzyme degrades prostaglandins, including prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). Previously, pharmacologic inhibition of 15-PGDH with the small molecule (+)-SW033291 achieved regenerative effects in peripheral organs by enhancing the PGE2-mediated stem cell response. However, the efficacy of 15-PGDH inhibition in the brain has not been examined, despite the fact the PGE2 increases neuronal stem cell activity. Impaired hippocampal neural stem cell activity has been implicated in Alzheimer’s disease (AD).
