Which Patients Present To Dermatologic Emergencies? A Survey On 1561 Patients

Dermatologic emergencies are experiencing a rise in the number of patients, with the majority referring themselves1,2 . Only 1/3 of patients presenting to the dermatologic emergency unit (DEU) need an urgent assessment within 48 hours.3 Taking into account the difficulty in the consistency of care, the increasing number of patients, and the controversial definition of a dermatologic emergency, the objectives of this study were to determine what urges patients to visit a DEU and their referral after their visit in order to help organize a triage and pathway for patients in the future.
