Designing high energy storage performance BSZT-KNN ceramics

In this paper, relaxor ferroelectric Ba0.8Sr0.2Zr0.9Ti0.1O3-Na0.5K0.5NbO3 (BSZT-KNN) ceramics were achieved by designing microstructures and adding nano-additives. The fine grains (192 nm) and relaxor behaviour of the BSZT-KNN ceramics were enhanced by utilizing the BSZT@KNN powders. The relative density (97%) and temperature stability of the ceramics were increased by adding nano-additives. Finally, BSZT-KNN ceramics with a large polarization difference (16.85 mu C/cm2) and high breakdown field strength (352 kV/cm) were obtained. Accordingly, a recoverable energy storage density of 2.96 J/cm3 and an energy storage efficiency of 98.0% were achieved. These results suggest that BSZT-KNN ceramics with high comprehensive energy storage performance can be applied to electrical energy storage.
