•Low-dose lysozyme loaded in optimized eugenol entrapped casein nanoparticles ECL-NPs.•Lysozyme assisted ECL-NPs enhanced the inhibitory efficiency against gram-positive bacteria.•SEM demonstrated the hydrolysis of lysozyme in ECL-NPs accelerate cell disintegration.•ECL-NPs exhibited 100% antibacterial rate and antioxidant activity in fresh juice for 15 d.
