Abstract
•Three new clerodane diterpenoids were isolated from the aerial parts of Salvia involucrata.•The absolute configuration of compounds 1-3 was established by comparison of the theoretical and experimental ECD curves.•DP4+ statistical analysis was performed to determine the relative configuration of compound 2.•Compounds 1 and 8 displayed moderate cytotoxic activity against PC3 and K562 cancer cell-lines, respectively.•Salvia species belonging to the subgenus Calosphace, chemically diverge from Salvia species grown in the Old World and China.
